Broken Memories

I'm stronger now inside and out

I'm trying to believe again in us

We're broken inside and out

These tears will wash away these broken memories

I may be angry but that doesn't mean I don't care anymore

But the sadness is at times to much to bear so I had to let you go

Through this pain and anger I've overcome my fear of you

I want to have you near but it’s just not time - it may never be again

I don't know how long I'll stand to bear all these bitter memories of you

I can forgive you, I know I must

Musings on Forgiveness

Forgiveness isn't something that is achieved by just making a bold "I forgive you, please forgive me" statement.  True forgiveness means letting go of the anger, resentment, or other negativity towards the person who offended us, whether or not they have changed or repented at all.  Forgiveness is an ongoing, ever evolving process.
